Katrina Halili is among the most prominent young stars in Philippine show business. She began her career by joining the reality talent search, StarStruck, where she became part of the top twelve finalists of the show’s first season. Although she didn’t win the grand prize for the said competition, Katrina Halili became a crowd favorite due to her voluptuous figure matched with a quirky personality.
Katrina Halili gained celebrity status after StarStruck, and soon became one of the young generation of hosts in the weekend variety program, SOP Gigsters under her home network, GMA 7. Eventually she was given supporting roles in the network’s shows, including Joyride, and Forever in My Heart.
Being in the world of entertainment for only five years, Katrina Halili was able to make a name for herself by pursuing villain roles in different weeknight shows in GMA 7, including the comic-book inspired series, Darna, where she played the role of Carol, aka Black Darna, followed by another antagonist role this time for the fantasy series Majika, as Juno. That didn’t stop Katrina Halili for being a regular face on television, as she soon bagged the role of Helena in another fantasy series, Atlantika, also on GMA 7.
While busy on television, Katrina Halili also took time to embark on the movie scene. She was first cast in a bit role for the film Kilig…Pintig…Yanig (Shiver, Beat and Quiver). Her first major role however was in the film in the superhero flick Super Noypi, and the horror trilogy Shake, Rattle and Roll 9.
Katrina Halili continued her acting jobs on television, and even embarked on more mature villainess roles such as the alluring Ashley Calibre in Lupin, and Angelica Santibańez in the Filipino adaptation of the hit Mexican soap opera, MariMar. She also played the role of Christine Dollente in the TV adaptation of the movie Magdusa Ka, and starred in a month-long drama anthology, Obra, in which she showcased different genres of acting.
Her most recent acting credits include the movie One Night Only, an entry in the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival, the horror thriller Sundo, and Dalaw (Visitor). Katrina Halili is currently busy working on her latest villainess role this time in another Mexican-inspired drama series, Rosalinda.
When not acting, Katrina Halili poses for various magazines that circulate around the Philippine market. She is also endorser of various products, both on print and TV.
